Vanke Financial Centre 3rd Stage: A Holistic Mix-Use Architecture

Integrating Towers and Creating an Open City Interface

Located at the heart of Foshan City's Chancheng District, the Vanke Financial Centre 3rd Stage is a top-end financial-concentrated commercial complex. Designed by Foshan Vanke Properties Dev. Co. Ltd., this project aims to integrate the existing 2nd stage towers and create a building group that emphasizes a stereoscopic and open city interface. The goal is to provide visitors with a highly-efficient, safe, open, green, and comfortable public space.

The Vanke Financial Centre 3rd Stage stands out with its unique approach to design and functionality. By integrating the towers of the 2nd and 3rd stages, the complex maintains a cohesive aesthetic while offering a range of amenities. The design takes advantage of existing traffic facilities, extending overpasses and underground paths to the core region of the project. This provides multiple semi-open areas along the main highways, making it convenient for people to access for business purposes and for residents to enter and exit the park.

The complex covers a land area of 34,507.79 square meters and has a total construction area of 322,592.55 square meters. The above-ground area spans 257,866.22 square meters, while the underground area measures 64,726.33 square meters. It consists of three super high-rise office buildings (Tower B with 35 floors, Tower C with 39 floors, and Tower D with 48 floors), one annex building (4 floors), and a three-floor basement. The towers primarily serve office and hotel purposes, while the annex building caters to commercial usage, conference centers, and municipal supporting facilities. The basement provides additional commercial space, parking lots, and equipment rooms.

One of the key features of the Vanke Financial Centre 3rd Stage is its all-weather open city space. The lower part of the complex is designed to be open, taking into consideration the local climate characteristics. This design facilitates easy access and communication for the people in the area, allowing for commercial events and becoming a highlight of the project. The complex operates as a mix-use space, housing offices, a hotel, a commercial center, and a parking lot.

The Vanke Financial Centre 3rd Stage project began in March 2014 and is set to be completed in June 2019. The design team, led by Foshan Vanke Properties Dev. Co. Ltd., conducted extensive research on the geological location, local climate characteristics, city features, cultural features, and full life cycle design. The aim was to integrate a financial complex with multiple functions, altitudes, supporting facilities, streamlines, and high density into the city. The result is a design that embodies holistic design principles, an open-style city space, featured architecture, and multiple function interaction.

The Vanke Financial Centre 3rd Stage project faced several challenges, including the need to meet the complex's flexible full life cycle requirements while integrating the owner's existing property. Additionally, connecting the existing buildings and half-completed construction with the new project posed a significant challenge. However, the design team successfully overcame these obstacles, resulting in a cohesive and functional complex.

The Vanke Financial Centre 3rd Stage project has been recognized for its excellence in design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category in 2019. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The Vanke Financial Centre 3rd Stage stands as a testament to the integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, contributing to a better world.
